Passion for Fashion
”Fashion is a tool... to compete in
life outside the home. People like you better, without knowing
why, because people always react well to a person they like the
looks of”.
- Mary Quant -
Passion for Fashion is an original concept aiming to introduce
the best of Filipino talent in fashion design in Sweden.
Spearheaded by Ms. Caroline Fredriksson, Ms. Merose Brual Leo
and Ms. Agnes Pedrosa Mårelid, plans were made to facilitate the
process of building a fashion bridge between Philippines and
Sweden.
Focus is on natural fabrics that are abundant in the Philippines
such as sinamay (woven fabric from Manila hemp or abaca), Abel
iloco (hand-woven local cotton plants from Ilocos Norte), jusi
(from banana fibers) and piña (from pineapple fibers).
Through this project we would like to awaken our awareness in
embracing Filipino talents and recognizing hundreds of year long
tradition of weaving local fibers in our country. It’s a tribute
to Filipino men and women who dedicate their lives in preserving
that tradition.
Increasing demand for the use of natural dyes, organic and eco
friendly materials perfectly describe the work of Filipino
designer Shanon Pamaong.
Awarded the Best Original Filipino designer during Philippine
Fashion Week 2007, Shanon Pamaong’s design depicts both modern
and traditional creations combined with comfort and
practicality.
His range of outfit includes bridal gowns, street wear, casual,
formal, cocktail and prêt a couture for both men and women in
natural and mixed fabrics.
